Questions for a report
Hey guys, I am doing a report that involves things from Guild Wars within it and as I have seen there are many friendly people on these forums, I was hoping some of you could quickly answers some questions for me. Thanks in advance
1) What was the first GW game you bought? (Proph/Factions/Nightfall)
2) Do you currently own all games including eye of the north.
3) Do you have more than one GW account? If so, how many
4) Do you like using henchmen in the party or does it annoy you how for example you can't control what they do.
5) Is the map travel feature something that you like about the game/If you have played games without this feature do you miss not having it?
6) How much of an impact did titles have on your play style/how much you played? (Pre-Hall of monuments rewards).
7) Have you ever taken part in GvG tournaments? If so did you enjoy the way it worked and did you care about GvG rankings?
8) Was the fact that Guild Wars is a buy to play game encourage you to buy the game and would you continue to play if there had been any amount of subscription fee (removing the fact that this may have brought more updates into the game).
9) Do/did you enjoy the Kurzick and Luxon allegiances and did it encourage you to play more to improve your titles and control of the world map?
10) Do you like the PvP formats introduced with Factions (e.g. FA/JQ) and if so, why?
11) Did the introduction of heroes make playing more enjoyable for you?
12) If hard mode had never been released, do you think you would have played through PvE content as much.
13) Did your game play style change with the release of the Hall of Monuments awards?
14) Do you still play for any reason besides filling up your Hall of Monuments?
15) Will you be buying Guild Wars 2 on release?
I hope that didn't drag on too much, the more results I can get the better and I very much appreciate any time spent in answering these questions =]

1) Prophecies
2) Yup.
3) 2 accounts
4) Heroes.
5) Like
6) I liked doing GWAMMS so a fair impact - will finish 6th gwamm and 2nd complete hall next week before retiting.
7) Nope
8) Big influence - I avoid subscription games
9) Didn't play much AB - never cared where teh line was - when it went in our gavor I woudl go biy cheap lockpicks. faction grind was much more enjoyable when it was updated and killed the old HFF in Melandru's Hope
10) Yes - but never got into them till about 5th year. Enjoy JQ more because it is better balance.
11) It made play during the week easier - that was hero time and weekends were guild runs.
12) probably - though I would ahve retured earlier
13) Not really
14) One last gwamm spike from 21 titles to hopefully 35
15) 2 accounts and both collecters editions I expect.

1. Prophecies.
2. Yes.
3. No, but i have access to two more.
4. I did Prophecies and Factions with the henchmen. Right now, with seven heroes, there's virtually no reason to use them, at all (there's a difference between henchmen and heroes).
5. Map travel is very important. Or some kind of fast travel through the world. So yeah, i missed it in some games.
6. Quite a lot, i'm an achiever type of gamer, so i love to collect titles, trophies and achievements.
7. Never.
8. I probably would never start playing GW if there was any subscription fee in the first place. If ANet introduced one somewhere on the way, i'm not sure how i would react. Quitting would be an option.
9. I really enjoyed the idea. I really liked the distinctive features of each faction. It didn't make me particularly interested in pushing the borders, but i was in fact in capital-controlling guilds for a long time, on both sides, while working on my titles, and i enjoyed having access to a discounted merchant. I really like the idea of controlling towns, castles and keeps in games, so yeah, it kinda suited me. However, the conflict itself hasn't encouraged me to work on my alliegiance titles - i probably would work on them even without map/town control.
10. Yes, mainly JQ. They are fast-paced, easy to get into (both in terms of time to get into a match and the overall newbie-friendly mechanics of the formats). Also, at least in JQ, every member contributes in a way, and every member feels unique, probably thanks to the randomness and lack of strict teamplay required.
11. It certainly made it different, and much easier. I had beaten Prophecies and Factions before buying Nightfall or EotN, so i didn't have the access to heroes back then. I managed, without any gimmick team builds. Then, after getting viable heroes and setting up with proper builds that use skills from all the parts, the game has become so much easier. I'm not sure if it's good, though.
12. I would play less - i wouldn't vanquish the areas or play in hard mode missions. As an achiever, i was only really interested in getting HM-related titles, and not the mode itself.
13. Not really. It changed when i was maxing EotN reputation titles and i didn't want to speedrun books, but i chose to fill the whole books. After about the fifth, it became so tedious and boring i felt i have to change my team composition (been using a balanced team build of my own design). That's how i started using a bit altered Discordway on my mesmer, and i haven't really changed it ever since, getting the last points for my and friends' HoMs.
14. Well, kinda. I enjoy playing the market, and even though i don't really need money for anything (i never bought anything only because it's pretty or rare, and i already filled three HoMs), i sometimes hop into Kamadan for some trading. It's enjoyable. I also, very slowly, work on my Luxon title, just for fun, as i don't need it for HoM or anything else, actually.
15. Yes, along with my fiancee and four or five friends. As fast as possible.

1) Prophecies
2) Yes
3) No
4) I like henchmen for nostalgia sake
5) Map travel is a must for me, I'd be endlessly annoyed without it. (Don't think I played an RPG where you couldn't map travel)
6) I like to have a purpose ingame. If it isn't an armor, then it's a title. (Got most of my titles on my main character before I even bought eotn)
7) I only participated once (guest). I enjoyed it. Of course you want to win, but you can't expect to win your first tournament either. (gvg is a big hurdle, compared to HA, imho)
8) I bought GW because it's free to play, and I wouldn't continue if I had to pay a subscription fee.
9) I liked the kurzick/luxon allegiance idea. And I liked playing AB (the worldmap control didnt bother me, I just found large scale AB fights fun). Also encouraged me to work on those titles.
10) I like the JQ format. It's fast pased, and you can focus on different things: cap shrines, defend shrines, kill carriers, or defend carriers... FA never won me over, both luxon and kurzick side never really was fun for me.
11) 3 heroes was good... 7 heroes made general pve (vanquish/guardian) too easy.
12) I don't know. HM gives rise to the vanq and guardian titles... no HM would make the game incredibly boring. So I might have already quit if there was no HM.
13) No, I already went after titles before I bought eotn.
14) Yes, my HoM is 50/50 and I'm one vanquish away from my second GWAMM. I play to chat with a couple of close ingame friends and do the Zaishen stuff or whatever together. (surprised you didn't ask a question about zaishen mission/bounty/vanq, since it really gives you something to do and keeps you playing. I think without it, alot more people would have already quit).
15) Probably, but not sure yet. (If I buy it, it might as well be on release, but I don't know if I'll buy it yet)
gl with your report^^

1) Prophecies.
2) Yes.
3) 2 accounts, though I don't really use the second.
4) I used to, but not anymore with heroes. And people are always more fun.
5) Definitely.
6) Very little. I originally played for the story.
7) I have done GvG, but not that often and we never won much so I did not care about the rankings, though the format was fun.
8) I would not have bought it if it was subscription based.
9) Yes! When Factions first came out, the first thing I did was join a Kurzick guild. All we did was AB and faction farm. Owning HzH was a big deal back then.
10) Never tried them, honestly.
11) Yes, but only because the player base was dwindling (and there was never any healers).
12) Yes, since I beat proph and whatnot before hardmode came out. I wouldnt have repeated missions or done vanquishes without it, though.
13) A little. I went about getting 30/50, but then went back to my normal style.
14) I only play with friends or guildies nowadays.
15) YES.

1) Prophecies
2) Yes
3) No, but I sometimes use two of my better half's accounts
4) Heroes are better because you can specify their build, so with them there is no reason for henchies in most cases
5) Map travel is great
6) When the titles like cartog and others first came out before there was a hall, I was working on them then anyway just for the heck of it, so that helped nicely for my hall
7) A long time ago, not at all now
8) The no subscription fee format was a huge decision in my continued play
9) I quit shortly after factions came out and only came back last year, so I missed the real good days of faction battles and cannot really comment on them
10) See above
11) I trust my heroes more than your average player because I know what skills and equipment they are going to use and generally how they will behave. Since I came back so late into the game they also made it possible for me to complete things since the player base in areas I was in then was miniscule
12) Probably not, but I dink around so much as it is, I probably would have found something goofy to do
13) Ive certainly put more consideration into things I am doing now and whether they coincide with my hall, but if you're doing it just for the hall and not having fun, then you're doing it wrong
14) The friends I have in game
15) Absolutely, will preorder the CE when they finally get it listed, same as Prophecies

1) Prophecies
2) Yes
3) 2 accounts though 1 is just a mule.
4) I use heroes, never liked henchmen much.
5) Love it, would miss it a lot
6) I didn't care much, titles has never been a big part of my playing. Only title I did put some effort in was the glad title.
7) Did some GvG for a while but it was too much of an effort to start each time and guilds died too fast.
8) Yes I would probably not have tried it if it had a subscription fee.
9) Yes though the implementation could have been better.
10) Yeah but I did not play them much at first.
11) Yes because it made it possible to play even when you didn't have any friends on or could not find a party. Also even nicer to get 7 heroes and not have to bother with henchmen.
12) Not sure, maybe not as much but not much less either.
13) Yes at first just to get points and had a lot of friends coming back etc. But it went back to normal after a while.
14) Yes I enjoy making new characters and give them nice outfits, doing some trading and farm for those rare items you've always dreamt of.
15) Haven't decided for sure yet, but will probably buy collector's edition at release.

1.Proph.
2.Yes.
3.Yes, I have 2.
4.I don't use hench now because of the 7 hero update, before that I really disliked them because of sub-par builds and generally bad AI.
5.I love map travel, makes things easier and faster. Nothing worse than having to spend 10 mins walking place to place every time.
6. I like the titles, gives me something to achieve.
7. Played GvG but not ATs, was only a casual level so no, rankings were never really important.
8.GW being a free game wasn't really an issue, I think I would have probably paid a monthly fee for it.
9.The Luxon/Kurzick allegiances didn't really effect my PvE game play however, I did play a lot of AB and maxed both titles this way.
10.FA/JQ are ok on zaishen quest days, otherwise I stay away.
11.Yes, having heroes meant you didn't have to rely on other people either being online or wanting to do the same things as you.
12.No.
13. No because when the rewards were announced I wasn't far off 50/50.
14. My HoM is full. I play for the social aspect, made many friends. I really play to chat and help them out.
15.Haven't decided yet but most likely.

2) Yeah... on 3 accounts
3) 3 of my own, and a bunch of others I inherited from guildies and friends
4) I use heroes, but even henchmen are better than pugs
5) yeah, map travel is win
6) Not much really
7) Dabbled for a while, but PVP isn't my scene
8) The lack of a sub is one of the main reasons I started playing GW
9) I like the armor options, but apart from that, not really
10) JQ is fun and the lack of organised teams is what makes it for me
11) yeah, much more fun
12) nope, VQing for titles is the major reason to replay instances
13) it put the spurs to me to do more of what I was doing anyway, but GWAMM was/is the thing I'm really chasing
14) yeah, it's fun. When it's not fun anymore, play something else.

2) Yes.
3) No.
4) I always use heroes or play with real players, when possible (e.g. during ZB)
5) Yes and yes.
6) Not much of an impact, really.
7) No and dont care.
8) I wouldn't have played GW if it was pay to play.
9) Dont care.
10) No. Stupid npc abuse fest with too much faction gain.
11) Enjoyable? No. Playable? Yes.
12) Depending on quests.
13) No. Pve is an accessory to pvp that you go to when you need a break from pvp and just wanna do some relaxed spamming.
14) I never played to fill my HoM (apart from the minimal 30/50). Why would I?
15) Probably.

- Prophecies
- Yes
- Yes, 2.
- I prefer heroes, but I can also control henchmen. I prefer H/H to players not in my guild or friends list.
- I love map travel, and other similar games without it do annoy me.
- Titles have very little effect on how I play or what I want to do.
- No. I only played GvG before tournaments, and rating never concerned me.
- I refuse to pay any subscription for a game, so GW's pricing model was a primary concern.
- I dislike almost everything about the Kurzick and Luxon system. Alliances were a nice addition, but again, they force an unnecessary division of players. I could write a wall of text on my criticisms of this.
- No. I don't play PvP anymore. I don't enjoy it. This includes the Factions formats.
- Yes. A lot.
- Probably not, no.
- Not much. I pursued the easy and quick points to add more to HoM, but I don't care about maxing it. I already had more than 30/50 when point structure was announced.
- See above. I still play because I enjoy the game, and I'm not aware of anything else like it.
- Probably, but I am not certain.

1) I bought all three and EoTN at the same time (it was one of those packages that apparently were only sold at Walmart in the US)
2) Yes
3) No; n/a
4) Nope: generally I only ever use one when I don't have an equivalent hero yet.
5) Yes, it's convenient; no, depending on how long-distance travel is handled map travel is not a "must-have".
6) n/a - I bought the game after EoTN was old news to most players.
7) No; n/a
8) First - that is not the way to ask a scientific question! Yes, that was a big selling point - when my friends were trying to get me to buy it every argument was appended with "but there are no subscription fees!". And I would not play it if there were.
9) Yes; neutral
10) Yes; they're quick and gimmick builds are fun (for a little while).
11) I did not play before they were introduced. However, I would say they had a positive effect on my game experience.
12) Can't say for certain - I wasn't around before it was released. The answer is probably no.
13) n/a
14) Yes: I enjoy the game.
15) Probably not.

1) Proph, because it was the only one that existed at the time.
2) Yes.
3) No.
4) Assuming you mean heroes as well rather than henchmen; then yes. H/H is just generally better and easier. As always, friends/guildies/people you know > heroes > randoms.
5) Yes.
6) Not much. The titles I've got are things I was interested in doing already. I was mapping all the areas, doing all the bonuses, etc before titles even existed. Things like sweet tooth which are nothing but time/money wasters I have no interest in. Grindy titles are pretty much the same, though I've maxed some because they're not particularly difficult.
7) Not really. I haven't had the time/interest to commit to PvP.
8) Yeah, probably. It certainly helps when I feel like taking a break and then coming back to check out updates.
9) It's a nice idea, but it was really annoying at times. For example, when certain merchants won't trade with you because you've got too much of one faction. It also seems to confuse a lot of people, so it could have been implemented better. AB was fun though.
10) Didn't play them much, but I liked them. The differing objectives (and to lesser extent the environments) are the main point of interest.
11) Yes, definitely.
12) I possibly would have played though with more characters. Overall I'd say I would have played much less.
13) Does spending cash on crap I'd never otherwise have in interest in obtaining count? I did some chest running on lucky/unlucky weekend to get unlucky... does that count? Otherwise no.
14) Yes. I've done as much of my HoM as I wanted/planned to. I usually alternate between taking breaks and playing when there's an update or something piques my curiosity. I don't really have much interest in playing through the campaigns anymore.
15) It depends on whether I have the time to commit to it or not.

1) What was the first GW game you bought? (Proph/Factions/Nightfall)
prophecies. a couple months after launch
2) Do you currently own all games including eye of the north.
yes
3) Do you have more than one GW account? If so, how many
2 currently
4) Do you like using henchmen in the party or does it annoy you how for example you can't control what they do.
i like henchmen/heroes 90% of the time i feel they are better than the average pick up group.
5) Is the map travel feature something that you like about the game/If you have played games without this feature do you miss not having it?
i think all games should have an easy, no cost travel system
6) How much of an impact did titles have on your play style/how much you played? (Pre-Hall of monuments rewards).
I'm grinding way more than I ever have before.
7) Have you ever taken part in GvG tournaments? If so did you enjoy the way it worked and did you care about GvG rankings?
i've gvg'd but not in tourneys
8) Was the fact that Guild Wars is a buy to play game encourage you to buy the game and would you continue to play if there had been any amount of subscription fee (removing the fact that this may have brought more updates into the game).
if there was a subscription i would have quit it long ago. i can't afford much of anything right now.
9) Do/did you enjoy the Kurzick and Luxon allegiances and did it encourage you to play more to improve your titles and control of the world map?
control of the map doesn't really influence me. I tend to play for both sides whenever i feel.
10) Do you like the PvP formats introduced with Factions (e.g. FA/JQ) and if so, why?
they're okay at times. it's fun low level pvp when i don't feel like paying attention much.
11) Did the introduction of heroes make playing more enjoyable for you?
Yes, henchmen have a lot of skills i would never use(ex. res on a healing monk) this makes it so i can create the exact build i want used.
12) If hard mode had never been released, do you think you would have played through PvE content as much.
not at all, but that's also because there wouldn't be nearly as many titles to achieve.
13) Did your game play style change with the release of the Hall of Monuments awards?
yes, i tend to force myself to do titles i wouldn't feel like doing before.
14) Do you still play for any reason besides filling up your Hall of Monuments?
occasionally i pvp, but mostly time is spent working on the HoM
15) Will you be buying Guild Wars 2 on release?
collector's edition.

1) Nightfall
2) Yes.
3) No, just one.
4) They have their uses, but I generally prefer heroes over henchmen.
5) I like it. I haven't played many other games of this type, though, so I can't really compare. I do not like the idea of having to walk, say, from Ascalon to Maguuma. Does not sound fun.
